Four Seasons Permaculture For Kids
We are delighted to offer a Permaculture for Kids program, co-taught by Instructors Megan Szrom & Doug Miller-Fleig. Occurring on the same dates and times as the Four Seasons PDC, parents are invited to either drop their children off for this program, or to enroll in the Four Seasons permaculture training (for adults and children age 12-18). Sharing this learning with one's children is a mutually enriching experience, and allows parents and children to support each other in deepening our connection to what sustains us.

This program is designed to introduce children, aged 4-11, to permaculture through engaging and fun activities attuned to the seasonal rhythm of the Garden. We'll explore and interact with Nature as we learn about the three Permaculture Ethics: Care for the Earth, Care for People, and Future Care. We'll take part in activities such as (delete arts)crafts, games, hands on projects, creative play, theater, observation, and nature exploration within the teachings of the Permaculture Principles.

We'll have hands on experiences to explore the following topics:

  • Soil, Composting, and Worms
  • Seed collecting and saving
  • Plant Propagations and Transplanting
  • Herbal Remedies and Medicine Making
  • Cooking and Nutrition with foods from the Garden
  • Protecting and Respecting Native Wildlife
  • Water and Watersheds
  • Permaculture Design Projects using tools
  • Natural Building and Working with Cob
  • Sustainability and Regenerative Practices: Zero Waste and Creator Culture
