Ground of Wellbeing

We are embodying a vibrant model of community-based, nature-placed, ecologically oriented Medicine. Ongoing groups explore the foundations of well-being, the ecology of a whole, balanced human being, and a proactive approach for preventing and/or reversing chronic disease whenever possible. We will highlight the way creating a healthy inner ecology brings us into a mutually beneficial relationship with our Earth.

Quarterly groups complement Natura's Art of Vitality and Permaculture Design programs as well as Anna's Integrative Family and Community Medicine practice in West Marin.

These half-day immersions are followed by a potluck lunch in the Garden. Participants have the option of staying for a Garden Tour and/or the opportunity to tend the Garden, from 2 to 4 pm.

Ground of Wellbeing, Fall-Summer 2018-2019

Fall

Nourishment: A Taste of Food as Medicine

Date to be announced. 10 am-1 pm; Garden tending from 2 pm to 4 pm

We will review the use of food as medicine, with an emphasis on anti-inflammatory, blood sugar stabilizing foods, and an understanding of anti-oxidative, longevity-supporting and anti-cancer foods. We'll enjoy nourishing foods sourced from the Garden. The optional afternoon tending opportunity will explore growing your own vegetables from a permacultural perspective.

Winter

Stillness: Unwinding Stress and Cultivating Presence

January 27, 10 am-1 pm; Garden tending from 2 pm to 4 pm

Renew your appreciation of the profound benefit of regularly releasing stress and tension, and in harnessing the relaxation response. We'll review the ever-evolving and inspiring science and dip into experiences of meditative stillness. The optional afternoon tending will explore where the wild and the cultivated meet in the Garden, and in our beings, as we create meditative sanctuary space.

Spring

Lightening: Cleansing and Detoxifying

April 28, 10 am to 1 pm; Garden tending from 2 pm to 4 pm

We are exposed to numerous toxic substances in our environment. Whether in our air, water, food, or consumer products, these substances affect our health and have to be cleared by our bodies. We'll discuss how to minimize exposures, how to support our body in detoxification and elimination of these substances, and how Nature supports us in these efforts in Spring. The optional afternoon Garden-tending will relate to cultivating plant allies in detoxification.

Summer

Movement

July 28, 10 am to 1 pm; Garden tending from 2 pm to 4 pm

Our bodies our designed to move. Our subtle energy bodies, so elegantly understood in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, respond to practices that allow the energy to flow. Movement in Nature enhances the beneficial effects.  Join Anna in an exploration in the compelling science, a hike out beyond the Garden gate, and a guided experience in the joy of a movement practice in communion with the natural world. The optional afternoon Garden-tending will have us tending paths as we move through the stunning beauty.

Led by Anna O’Malley, in collaboration with Coastal Health Alliance.
